John 11:35

Just had a thought about why Jesus wept before raising Lazarus from the dead in John chapter 11, and I feel kind of silly, never having noticed this before. He was "deeply moved in spirit and troubled" when He saw Mary and the others who there weeping.

I think He wept because just as He was perfectly capable of raising Lazarus from the dead, so too was Jesus perfectly empathetic to the pain and the grief of these people in mourning over the death of a loved one.

For the longest time I would spiritualize Jesus weeping, when, in fact, it was simply Jesus responding deeply to the pain of others around Him.

John 11:35 "Jesus wept."

The more I think I know about God, the more I realize that I don't.

And that is a wonderful feeling. :)
