Who am I? (Epilogue)

We first came to Christ because we felt guilty and ashamed of OURSELVES, for that is what Jesus creates in our hearts as the first step towards salvation, that step being conviction.

Conviction (in regards to salvation) is the key, it is us being shown who we truly are, totally depraved, and totally in need of a savior. Just because we now call ourselves Christians does not mean that we no longer need deal with feeling convicted. In fact, we should deal in it all the more, seeking correction both from God and from trustworthy brothers and sisters in Christ around us. We should love correction (Proverbs 12:1) and the discipline that it brings.

We must remain wary of going too long without feeling convicted...perhaps we have become callous, hearts hardening in a way that should terrify us, but instead leaves us feeling nothing more than minor discontent, covered with a vast, but false complacency.
